NPR.com/music
My new favourite music website. NPR beats Pitchfork, in so many ways.
Right Now, The Nationals "High Violet" is streaming. Heaven.
Right Now, The Dead Weather "Sea of Cowards" is streaming. Gushing.
Go listen to something new.
Go listen to something you have never heard before.

Evelyn Glennie: Shows Us How To Listen
TED.com has quickly become one of my favourite website.
They provide videos of speakers who all inspire in so many different ways.
Go watch a few videos. You'll learn things about yourself, others, and the world over that the average human being tends to overlook.
I found this video particularly interesting.

HIGH VIOLET!
The National are releasing their new album entitled High Violet May 10th.
They continually create great music riddled with bass tones littered with heart-breaking lyrics and moving melodies.
Listen to some of their new tracks here. NYTIMES
They have tour dates up and will be playing in Vancouver at the Malkin Bowl on September 10th.
Can't Wait.

You Say Party! We say Die!
Devon Clifford of YSP!WSD! passed away Sunday morning. He was the late drummer and suffered a brain hemorrhage whilst performing at the Rickshaw Theatre in Vancouver on Friday night, April 16th. I had been envious that I couldn't attend the show, having been a frequent listener of the band. I loved their albums and to hear this news saddens me to no end. It's unfortunate and my sympathies go out to family, friends, and fans of all music listeners out there. XXXX

Empire of Dreams
Empire of the Sun - Walking on A Dream
I dance around in my room to this song on repeat.
Fantastic and weird Australian band reminiscent of new-wave Flock of Seagulls music.

Dead Man's Bones In The Room
I had no idea Ryan Gosling was a musician. I have so much more respect for him now. This is his project called Dead Man's Bones, Ryan Gosling on piano and vocals, his friend Zach Shields on drums, along with the Silver Lake Conservatory of Music Children's Choir.
My favourite new music to listen to.
There are dark elements in the music you hear, Goslings voice is eerie and haunting. I love it.
When I first heard of this band, I admittedly judged their music by their band name. I thought "Dead Man's Bones" would be reminiscent of Gwar or Metal Heads.
I Was Wrong.
Their self-titled album was released October 8th 2009. Go pick it up!
I'm beginning my hunt for this album... In the mean time -->
Listen to their song "In the Room Where You Sleep" below.
Dead Man's Bones - In the Room Where You Sleep
Side Note: The adorable tone deaf child singing so loudly. =)

Pirate Heart Snagged
I went and saw Coeur de Pirate at Livecity Yaletown yesterday, February 20th, 2010.
I've been waiting to see her live for months, ever since I discovered her music. I waited front row center for what seemed like an eternity, realistically I was squashed between The Sam Roberts Band fans and The Arkells fans. I however am NOT a frequent listener of either of them.
But I endured the body heat of body odour sweat, marijuana smelling and alcohol induced crowd.
6 hours of being still in anxious anticipation for Beatrice Martin to finally grace the stage.
I felt a little embarrassed of the crowd when Beatrice took stage.
WHOSE idea was it to put her in-between two "indie rock bands" that cater to the typical bearded mid-20's male?
Shame shame. Regardless of the assholes who threw their bottles on stage and shouted rude obscenities at her.
She held her own with her melodic songs. I am hoping that Coeur de Pirate will eventually come back to Vancouver to play a proper show in a venue. Maybe the Vogue Theatre?
Here's great francophone pop music. Really this is me just wishing I lived in Montreal, Quebec.
The 7 hours of wait, the frozen toes, needle-pinned legs, the accumulation of bad odours, the obnoxious male counterparts... All was capped off perfectly with Coeur de Pirate.
Left afterwards. Enough shenanigans for one night.

Love it.
